Brand Asset License Terms
These Asset License Terms govern every logo, lockup, photograph, film, typeface, template, and bundle you download from the America's Mountain City™ Brand Guide (each an "Asset"). You accept them in the download dialog each time you download; this page publishes them for reference. The version shown in the dialog at the time of a download is the version that applies to that download, and it is recorded with your acceptance.
1. How licensing works
- Each download goes through a consent step. You review the terms that apply to that Asset, confirm that you are authorized to accept them for your organization, and provide your name, organization, and work email. We record that acceptance as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Which terms apply depends on the Asset. Most Assets are covered by the Standard Sublicense. The Spring/Summer photography collection is covered by the Digital-Use-Only License. The brand typefaces are subject to the Typeface restrictions.
- Content you view on the Site but do not download (for example, images displayed within the guide) is covered by the Terms of Use and may not be reused without a license.
2. Standard Sublicense
Applies to logos, lockups, brand kit bundles, campaign photography, film, and templates, unless a different license is shown in the download dialog.
By downloading these Assets you agree, on behalf of yourself and your organization, to the following:
- License grant. Visit Salt Lake grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable sublicense to use the downloaded Assets.
- Term. This sublicense is valid for one year (12 months) from the date of download. After it expires, all use must cease and the Assets must be removed from circulation.
- Permitted use. Assets may be used solely in connection with the promotion of Salt Lake and Visit Salt Lake / America's Mountain City™.
- Restrictions. Assets may not be sold, resold, sublicensed, redistributed, or used to imply an endorsement beyond the permitted promotion. They may not be altered in ways that conflict with the brand guidelines, or used in any unlawful, defamatory, or disparaging manner.
- Ownership. All Assets remain the property of Visit Salt Lake and its licensors. No ownership or intellectual-property rights transfer to you.
- Authority. You represent that you are authorized to accept these terms on behalf of your organization.
Visit Salt Lake may revoke this sublicense at any time in the event of a breach.
3. Digital-Use-Only License (Spring/Summer photography)
By downloading these photos you agree, on behalf of yourself and your organization, to the following:
- Digital use only. These photos are licensed exclusively for digital channels: websites, social media, email, and digital advertising. No print and no out-of-home (OOH) use of any kind is permitted, including brochures, signage, billboards, transit, or any physical printed material.
- Print and OOH. For any print or out-of-home use, you must first obtain separate written permission. Contact slear@visitsaltlake.com before proceeding.
- License grant. Visit Salt Lake grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable sublicense to use these photos in digital channels only.
- Term. This sublicense is valid for one year (12 months) from the date of download. After it expires, all use must cease and the photos must be removed from circulation.
- Permitted use. Photos may be used solely in connection with the digital promotion of Salt Lake and Visit Salt Lake / America's Mountain City™.
- Restrictions. Photos may not be sold, resold, sublicensed, redistributed, or used to imply an endorsement. They may not be altered in ways that conflict with the brand guidelines, or used in any unlawful, defamatory, or disparaging manner.
- Ownership. All photos remain the property of Visit Salt Lake and its licensors. No ownership or intellectual-property rights transfer to you.
- Authority. You represent that you are authorized to accept these terms on behalf of your organization.
Visit Salt Lake may revoke this sublicense at any time in the event of a breach.
4. Typeface restrictions
- The brand typefaces, Saans and Ivar Display, are third-party fonts licensed to Visit Salt Lake. They are not Visit Salt Lake's property to sublicense.
- Font files are available for download only to Visit Salt Lake staff using a visitsaltlake.com email address, for use in Visit Salt Lake work under Visit Salt Lake's own font licenses. Staff may not forward, share, or redistribute font files.
- Partners, agencies, and vendors who need the typefaces must license them directly from the respective type foundries. Where the brand typefaces are unavailable, use the system alternatives approved by Visit Salt Lake, or contact brand@visitsaltlake.com.
5. Trademark use
America's Mountain City™ is a protected trademark of Visit Salt Lake. When you use any Asset that includes the mark, or refer to it in copy:
- Use the mark exactly as provided. Do not shorten it ("Mountain City"), alter it ("the Mountain City"), or make it possessive.
- Set it in title case, as America's Mountain City™, even where the surrounding type is uppercase.
- Reproduce the ™ symbol as shown in the guide and in the lockups.
- Do not combine the mark or logos with other marks to create a new logo, and do not use them to imply a sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation that Visit Salt Lake has not granted in writing.
The complete rules for the mark, the logos, and the platform lockup are in the brand guide.
6. Records, expiry, and revocation
- We record each acceptance (who, which Asset, which terms version, and when) as described in the Privacy Policy. This record is our proof of the license and your reference for its term.
- When a sublicense expires (12 months from download) or is revoked, you must stop using the Assets, remove them from circulation, and delete the copies in your possession, except where retention is required by law. To continue using an Asset after expiry, download it again and accept the then-current terms.
- Visit Salt Lake may update these terms or withdraw Assets from the Site at any time. Changes apply to downloads made after they are posted; they do not shorten a term already granted, although a sublicense may still be revoked for breach.
7. Warranties and liability
Assets are provided "as is." Visit Salt Lake makes no warranty that an Asset is suitable for any particular use outside the permitted purpose, and you are responsible for confirming that your use complies with these terms, the brand guide, and applicable law. The disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, and indemnification provisions of the Terms of Use apply to your use of Assets.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah, as set out in the Terms of Use.
